I recently bought a speaker from letsbuy.com and did not have a good experience with them.

First, pic that used to display the set of speakers that I was looking for was absolutely not matching with the model. But even then I purchased it, thinking they would dispatch the actual speakers with that model number and not the one in the display picture. My question to them is even when the market is so competitive why can’t they display the actual model picture when even Google is full of those images ??

Secondly, after ordering when I did not hear from them for 4 days and order showing in process, when I contacted them, they said due to some unforeseen reasons they were unable to process the order till then and they were trying hard to process the order asap. My question to them is why did they not intimate me themselves if that was the case and if not in stock why it was available for order (it seems to have been corrected now and showing out of stock now) ??

Third, when I did not hear back from them again for four days, I wrote them to cancel the order and refund my money. But they did not care to respond to my email. They might be busy in procuring the sets from somewhere at any cost. I received their reply after 2 days (overall 8 days after ordering), that the speakers have been dispatched and since the order has been processed they cannot refund my money. My question to them is why did they not respond for 2 days and refund my money before they found the speakers somewhere and dispatched ??

It has been 3 more days after that conversation and I have still not received it. I am expected to receive it tomorrow as seen from the tracking of consignment i.e. I am expecting to receive it on 15th day after I placed my order with them although it said it would be delivered in 2 to 4 days.

This might be an exception case for them but the only one for me.

Too lazy and too reactive service.

RBI in its circular dated 27th April, 2012 has instructed banks NOT to ask for KYC (Know Your Customer) documents at the time of transfer of bank account from one branch to the another branch. This direction came after some complaints, received by RBI on some banks asking customers to undergo KYC process once again at the time of transfer of bank account from one branch to the another branch thus making the process tedious so that customers open a new account instead of transferring.

RBI circular categorically mentions that, Banks are advised that KYC once done by one branch of the bank should be valid for transfer of the account within the bank as long as full KYC has been done for the concerned account. Although, in order to comply with KYC requirements of correct address of the person, fresh address proof may be obtained upon such transfer by the transferee branch.

This should come as a relief for customers who are mobile and need to transfer their bank accounts occasionally.

Gideon Sundback, the Swedish-American electrical engineer, has been featured in a Google Doodle today. Mainly known for his work in the development of the zipper, Soundback was born in Sweden in 1880, later he moved to Germany after finishing his schooling and joined a polytechnic school.

Union information and broadcasting ministry has amended the existing Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act, 1994 and made set-top boxes mandatory in 4 metro cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai from 1st July 2012.

From 1st July, citizens in these metros will not be able to watch television without set-top box (STB). The STB will also become mandatory for all the 100 million-plus cable and satellite subscribers in India by 2014. This means, the monthly cable bills of the subscribers will shoot-up though the quality of service is expected to become world-class.

Both free-to-air channels and the pay channels in these metros will only be accessed through a STB and the consumers will have to shell out a minimum of R250-500 as a one-time cost to obtain a STB or by paying a monthly fees over and above the cable charges.

People who have conditional access system (CAS) will have to buy or rent out a new set-top box from the cable operators. Once the digitisation happens, it will lead to standardisation, giving viewers access to all channels.

The Information and Broadcasting ministry is also planning to implement a “must provide clause” for cable operators. This means, cable operator can not refuse to provide any channel, demanded by consumer. TRAI would decide the rate for each channel, and customers would know in advance how much they would have to pay for.

A good news for the industry and viewers. Digitization is good, shelling few more bucks is a problem in the beginning but with enhanced picture quality, we will get used to it.
